It has been two months since I last blogged (guess the whole idea of keeping updated hasn't worked). Guess I haven't felt like there has been much I felt needed to be expressed. What brings me back you ask? Simple, Gaga.
If you read my blog, or have skimmed through it, you will notice that I previously posted declaring myself a very devout little monster dedicated to Gaga
Transformed By Gaga. The event that brings me here now is one of unbelievable excitement (if you're a little monster anyway, if not, you may want to stop reading here). As the countdown to the official release of the title track "Born This Way" nears on Feb. 13th (Grammy night), little monsters have been very anxious for any amount of news on the track. Well, we finally got our wish!! In what began as the release of the opening lyrics, quickly turned into a release of the full lyrics!!
In a time in which so many have been victims of hatred, bullying, harassment, and just all out oppression, Born This Way is what I earlier yesterday called an "anthem of justice" and Sir Elton John (whose collaboration with Gaga on a track called "Hello Hello"-to be released Feb. 8th) has said, "This is the new 'I Will Survive.' That was the gay anthem. This is the new gay anthem. Actually, it's not a gay anthem - it can apply to anybody." I completely agree with this sentiment, Born This Way is about anyone, and everyone claiming their freedom, their inherent humanity. I am someone who has experienced injustice throughout my life and deeply connect not only to this song, but everything that Gaga is about. I love the entire song, but before I share the complete lyrics with you, let me highlight my favorite line, "...whether life's disabilities left you outcast, bullied, or teased, rejoice and love yourself today, 'cause baby you were born this way." As a disabled little monster these words from Mother Monster spoke right to my heart.
Here are the complete lyrics:
